Sustaining Heritage in High Places: Baguio City & Sagada

Conservation Conversations is a series of lectures, forums, and presentations organized by the Heritage Conservation Society. This September 21, 2019, join us for meaningful conversations and presentations by Aris Go and Tracey Santiago, as the two conservation advocates discuss "Baguio City " and "Sagada", respectively.

Aris Go, principal architect of Ninety Design Studio, presents and examines the current plans for the city of Baguio in the context of Daniel Burnham's original plan as an attempt to establish strategies that would better fit the city' stypologies and community needs.

Tracey Santiago, former board member of ICOMOS and a Research Fellow at the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, examines from a participant's perspective, community activities and strategies that the Sagada community has been putting in place to recover control over their economic and cultural destiny. She also documents the challenges faced by tourism development.
