This time it is Santos in the director’s chair, taking on the dual role as he portrays Bernard 1, Bernard 2, and Michael Black, opposite Guingona’s Salter.Written in 2002, at the height of public debate over cloning, A Number follows a father who has secretly cloned his son and is confronted by the unforeseen consequences of his hubris.. More than two decades later, the play finds new resonance in a cultural moment shaped by artificial intelligence, when identity is no longer simply replicated, but generated, predicted, and controlled.
