Ateneo de Manila College Glee Club
From its humble beginnings as the first collegiate choir organised in the Philippines, conducted by Jose Mossessgeld Santiago, the musical leadership has been passed on to influential Jesuits such as Fr. James B. Reuter, SJ and Fr. Antonio Cuna, SJ to nurture the ACGC, then an all-male choir performing pieces from the Musical Theater repertoire. The past several decades saw the ACGC transitioning to becoming one of the most influential drivers of the Philippine choral movement. Honed by esteemed conductor-pedagogues such as Joel Navarro, Eudenice Palaruan, Maria Lourdes Hermo, and presently Beverly Shangkuan Cheng, the ACGC has established an international standing especially after twice participating in the European Grand Prix of Choral Singing in 2001 and 2012, considered to be the most prestigious choral competition in the arena of amateur choral singing. Now on its 98th season, the ACGC seeks to establish a choral culture that is innovative, educational and socially relevant.
